Four things that surprise people

None of these mean anything is wrong. They are what unrefined, fire roasted oil does.

It arrived soft, or liquid Palm kernel oil is solid when cool and melts around body temperature. A warm truck or a hot mailbox will soften it. Put it somewhere cool for an hour and it firms back up. Nothing is lost.
It smells smoky, almost like burnt coffee Because it was made on an open fire. That smell is the proof, not a fault. It fades over a few hours. If you want it softer, add two or three drops of rosemary or lavender to your palm.
The colour is not the same as last time Every batch is roasted over a live fire by hand, so the shade moves between deep amber and near black. It is dark when melted and pale cream in a thin layer.
The surface looks grainy That is the oil crystallising as it sets. Warm it in your hands and it goes smooth.

One ingredient. Black palm kernel oil and nothing else. No carrier oils, no fragrance, no fillers.
Roasted in Nigeria, on a live firewood fire, by hand. Never made in a factory in China.
Filled to the line and sealed. If the seal is already broken when it reaches you, do not use it.
No press, no solvents, no bleaching. The heat draws the oil out, and it drains through a sieve. That is the whole process.

Start the return in your Amazon orders so the label is free. Then email us the order number and we will send the postage back if you paid anything.

Email us with a photo of the jar and the LOT number. We will send a prepaid label and refund you in full.

Before it crossed the ocean, it was ours

Ude Aki is black palm kernel oil, made the way it has been made in Nigeria for generations. The kernels are cracked out of the palm nut and roasted on a live firewood fire. The heat itself drives the oil out, and it drains through a sieve into the pot below.

People know its cousin from Honduras by another name. This one is the African original, from the soil the palm came from.
